Acknowledgements & Footnotes
Joyce Evans, Web Developer for greenKarat site

  1. Matt observes that one rarely encounters people with a standard of excellence worthy of superlatives. There are, however, two who have made an enormous impact on this web project. He married one. The other he has never met in person. Web developer Joyce Evans of Niche Marketing (right) brought this to the web with significant skill, determination, inspiration and good humor.  Her continuing support is a blessing.

  2. Some of the images on these pages were photographed by Dr. Ranil Senanayake.

  3. Some of the material included on these pages was originally produced as a contribution to “Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development,” a project of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in London, UK. The project was made possible by the support of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The International Institute for Environment and Development and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development own the copyright to those materials. Their site contains a wealth of information. One of the reports “Breaking New Ground,” which is excerpted here, is available at: www.iied.org/mmsd/finalreport/index.html
