About greenKarat

greenKarat introduced the concept of ecological jewelry in 2003, and remains the leader in terms of style, ecological values, and transparency with regard to ecological disclosures. greenKarat’s recycled gold and platinum jewelry is handmade by skilled artisans in the United States, with each piece bearing a Green Assay disclosure of its ecological report card.

In 2007 greenKarat introduced its myKarat program, which encourages consumers to recycle, reuse, or donate their broken and unused jewelry. It features the myKarat Registry, allowing couples to create keepsake wedding rings out of gold pooled by their friends and family.

greenKarat is also proud to announce that many of its designs are now made exclusively in 100% post-consumer gold. Use of post-consumer gold has the greatest effect in decreasing demand for destructive gold mining.
